Charlie Korsmo was born in Fargo, North Dakota on July 20, 1978 and as a child actor between 1990 and 1991 appeared in "Men Don't Leave," "Dick Tracy," "What About Bob?," "Hook," "The Doctor" and the made for TV film "Heat Wave" all this in the space of these two years. He appeared opposite such talent as Jessica Lange, Joan Cusack, Kathy Bates, Warren Beatty, Richard Dreyfuss, Bill Murray, Dustin Hoffman, Robin Williams and Julia Roberts. All before the ripe old age of 13 and his talent stood out next to the heavyweights and then Korsmo disappeared form films for seven long years before an appearance in the 1998 film Can't Hardly Wait and that has been it to this date. So what happened to such a promising young child actor? Well Korsmo simply got up and quit acting after 1991’s Hook with Robin Williams and directed by Steven Spielberg. What is he up to today? Well Mr. Korsmo is an extremely brilliant man; he graduated from MIT with a degree in physics. He's worked for the the House Select Committee on Homeland Security and Environmental Protection Agency. Then in 2006 he graduated from Yale Law School, and he currently teaches law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. Recently he was nominated for membership on the Board of Trustees of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program President Obama. How impressive is all of that? Good for Charlie and join me here regularly as I take a look back at what some former child stars are up to these days.   Below is a recent look at Mr. Korsmo

Booboo Stewart was born Nils Allen Stewart Jr. on January 21, 1994 in Beverly Hills, California. He is probably best known for his role as Seth Clearwater in Twilight Eclipse as well as both parts of Breaking Dawn. He didn’t get much screen time in the Eclipse saga but certainly got his share in the Breaking Dawn sagas. In case you don’t remember him, Seth is part of the group of werewolves led by Jacob Black. He is he younger brother of Leah. He was part of Sam Uley’s pack until he joined Jacob’s pack in Breaking Dawn. Riddick, the latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000’s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.   Genre:  Epic action-adventure      Cast:  Vin Diesel, Karl Urban, Jordi Mollà, Matt Nable,   Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woodbine,   Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Gerard Funk Directed by:  David Twohy  Written by: David Twohy Based on Characters   Created by:  Jim & Ken Wheat Produced by:  Vin Diesel, Ted Field Executive Producers: Samantha Vincent, Mike Drake, George Zakk www.riddickmovie.com Watch Trailer  RIDDICK                                                                            September 6, 2013

It looks like One Direction has done it again. Two smash albums in just two years, books, movies, sold out world tours, and the constant adoration of their fans, the “Directioners”. This group has taken the world by storm and everybody knows it. Even if you’re not a fan, you cannot deny the way that clever marketing, social media, and a great look has propelled this music sensation not only to the top of the UK music charts but to the whole world in general. They won all 3 of their nominations in MTV’s music awards as well as having two out of the top five albums in the US in the same year. No modern group has done that in the Nielsen era. Their books have made it to the NY Times bestseller list and now they threaten to outdo even themselves with the trailer for their latest movie, 1D3D having just been released. This could easily be the best year yet for One Direction and it’s only February.  Since their creation at the hands of Simon Cowell, One Direction has had only one direction, straight to the top. They were formed from Simon’s show X-factor in which the boys failed the singles auditions but looked promising as a group. Thus the concept was born. Since that moment, the boys have been unstoppable. Their two world tours, 10 million and counting Twitter followers, and the fact that everything they touch seems to turn into platinum attest to their success. With the release of their latest project, 1D3D, they will manage to make yet another success.  The movie is much like the last film they did “Up All Night: The Live Tour” and fans will again be delighted with the level of access they get to the group. Not only will there be the live concerts you would expect, there are the many candid moments of the boys simply being boys. Candid moments in the bathroom, pranks, and the fun moments the group has while on tour. There are also the rumors of a soundtrack being released for the movie which could include material not yet heard by the fans. The movie gives its fans what they want, a behind the scenes look at One Direction in a way that only they see themselves. This movie should easily surpass their last one and possibly become the best selling concert movie of all time. With the possibility of new songs being released for the movie, this could make 2013 an even bigger year for the group. What could possibly be better than a smash hit in the box office, possibilities for another top 5 album, and the continued adoration from their fans still shows that this group still has only one direction, straight up.

Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man, Melancholia) and Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas, Across the Universe) star in Upside Down, an interplanetary dystopian romance about a young man’s search for the long-lost girl of his dreams. Written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Juan Solanas and set in twinned worlds with opposite gravities, the film puts an eye-popping, original twist on the classic tale of forbidden love. Lovers Adam (Sturgess) and Eden (Dunst) are separated not just by social class and a political system bent on keeping them apart, but also by a freak planetary condition: they live on twinned worlds with gravities that pull in opposite directions—he on the poverty-stricken planet below, she on the wealthy, exploitative world above. The planets are so close that their highest mountain peaks almost touch. That’s where Adam and Eden first meet as children. And later, as teens, where he pulls her down to his world by a rope to cavort in dual-gravity bliss (visiting the other planet does not release a person from the gravitational pull of their native planet). But when interplanetary border-patrol agents attack them, Eden falls back to her world—apparently dead. Ten years later, Adam learns that Eden is alive and working at TransWorld—a vast corporation whose towering headquarters is the only structure that connects the planets—and the only legal means of passing between them. In a desperate attempt to find her, Adam gets a job at TransWorld developing a revolutionary face-lift cream based on a secret, gravity-neutralizing ingredient that has been passed down for generations in his family. From his lower-world cubicle, he quickly sets about infiltrating the upper-world executive suites to reconnect with Eden. And so begins a quest fraught with dangers and challenges—from having to woo Eden all over again because of the memory loss she suffered in the fall, to fleeing authorities through a topsy-turvy realm where up is sometimes down and down is sometimes up. Upside Down is a visually stunning romantic adventure that asks the question: what if love was stronger than gravity?   Upside Down - (Millennium Entertainment) - Release: 03/15/2013 Watch Trailer HD

After four seasons and 101 episodes Disney Channel has made it official Jessie has ended production. There will still be plenty to see of the young leads as a yet-untitled spinoff will be toplined by original series’ stars Peyton List, Karan Brar and Skai Jackson who will reprise their roles as of Emma, Ravi and Zuri Ross, respectively. Meanwhile the popular Cameron Boyce will headline Disney XD’s new live-action comedy, “Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything.” Looking back over the last four seasons Jessie has been bringing entertainment into the homes of Disney channel viewers. The show is full of antics and humor good for the entire family. The setting is in New York City where a small town girl, Debby Ryan who plays Jessie, comes from Texas to be the nanny of a high profile couple. The couple has 4 children who bring an array of personality into the mix. The oldest of the 4 children, Emma, played by Peyton List, is the only biological child of Ross family. The younger three are adopted from various areas of the world as well as from far different backgrounds. Luke Ross, who is played by Cameron Boyce, was born in Detroit. Ravi Ross, played by Karan Brar, was born in India and is the newest to the Ross family. Zuri Ross, played by Skai Jackson, is the families’ most sassy member adding lots of fun to the mix. The parents, Morgan and Christina Ross, make very few appearances throughout the series. Nanny Jessie and Butler Bertram end up being the primary caretakers of this exciting brood. You can often find Jessie lecturing the parents about spending more time with their children. She is a bit outspoken, which at first the family doesn’t care too much for. However, it grows on them and each new episode Jessie seems to bring the family closer together. You can also find the family chasing after Mrs. Kipling throughout most of the episodes; Mrs. Kipling is Ravi’s pet Asian water monitor lizard. From episode to episode, you watch Jessie and the family grow as new people. Jessie becomes more confident and able to handle city life, while offering a bit of country to those around here. Bringing in a bit of country allows the Ross family to slow down and really focus on what matters, which is each other. Jessie makes many mistakes along the way and their love for her keeps them from being too hard on her, and she gives the love right back. The best thing about the family is their love for one another. Even if they are busy cracking jokes on each other, or too busy to spend time with one another, when they are all together, it is as though they’ve never been apart. Part of their celebration as a family is celebrating “Gotcha Day.” This is the anniversary of each of the child’s adoption day. They celebrate it much like a birthday and the parents roll out the red carpet and retell their story of adoption each year. While things look like they may be a little crazy during each episode, there is always a lesson viewers can take away from it. With witty humor from both the adults and the children, all family members can relate to at least one of the characters in the show. Overall the show provides lessons, love and entertainment to all those who choose to watch the show.

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of all-stars as the global blockbuster franchise built on speed races to its next continent in Fast & Furious 6. Reuniting for their most high-stakes adventure yet, fan favorites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano. Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian’s (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete. Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again. Building on the worldwide blockbuster success of Fast Five and taking the action, stunts and narrative to even greater heights, Fast & Furious 6 sees director Justin Lin back behind the camera for the fourth time. He is supported by longtime producers Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel, who welcome producer Clayton Townsend back to the series. The First Film to Win Best Picture - Written by: Linda Napik   Years before there were televised reports from the red carpet or trendy workplace Oscar pools, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) handed out the first Academy Awards to films released in 1927 and 1928. The first film to win the award for Outstanding Picture was the silent film Wings. Wings tells the story of men and women who variously fall in love and strive to do their duty during World War I. It was considered technically impressive for its airplane scenes, filmed during a decade when flight was young and Charles Lindbergh completed his famous pioneering journey across the Atlantic Ocean. The two main male characters in Wings, played by Richard Arlen and Buddy Rogers, take part in daring feats of fighter pilot warfare. In addition to Outstanding Picture, Wings earned an Oscar for Engineering Effects, due in part to the orchestrating and filming of the scenes in which the actors actually flew the small airplanes. The film also stars Clara Bow and Jobyna Ralston as women who love and/or are loved by those men, but who are also courageous characters in their own right. Clara Bow’s character, whom both men love at first, volunteers to serve in the medical brigades; she, too, heads to Europe and the war. Another legendary Hollywood actor who appears in the film is Gary Cooper. Paramount premiered Wings in 1927. The first Academy Awards ceremony was held in May 1929, honoring films from late 1927 and the first half of 1928. The Outstanding Picture category later became known as Best Picture. Wings was the only silent film to win the award until the 2011 film The Artist won Best Picture in the 2012 ceremony. Wings is now available on DVD, for the easy home viewing pleasure of those who love classic films and the history of the Oscars.   (This article was written by Linda Napik and used with license permission.)
