Dakota Fanning is one of the most promising young actresses I have seen in movies today she was brilliant as Lucy Diamond in I am Sam with Sean Penn. Fanning begab her career at the age of five when she was picked from thousands of hopefuls for a national Tide commercial. She went on to land a co-starring role on television's ER and to appear on such prime-time shows as Ally McBeal, Strong Medicine, C.S.I, The Practice, Malcolm in the Middle and Spin City. She also worked on the pilot The Fighting Fitzgeralds. Her film roles includes Tomcats, starring Jerry O'Connell, Shannon Elizabeth abd Jake Busey and the AFI film Father Xmas. Immediately after completing I am Sam, Dakota went on to co-star in the thriller Trapped, co-starring Charlize Theron and Courtney Love. She also appeared in Sweet Home Alabama, Taken (2002) (mini) TV Series and Hansel & Gretel. Watch for her in 2003 in these releases Man on Fire, Molly Gunn and The Cat in the Hat. At the age of 8, she is the youngest person to ever be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. When she received an award from BAFTA for her work in I Am Sam, she was too short to reach the microphone to give her acceptance speech. Presenter Orlando Bloom held her up to the mike for the duration of her speech, which turned out to be quite long. I think Dakota might be making a few more of those speeches, she has an opprtunity for an outstanding acting career.
