While the Oscars celebrates the best of Hollywood the razzies gives us the dredges and this list for worst pictures is as folows

      - "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas"

      - "Left Behind"

      - "The Legend of Hercules"

      - "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"

      - "Transformers: Age of Extinction"

Did you see any on the list? what is your pick for worst film of last year?

Cool. Now here are my humorous references for the movies. Annual thing:

      - "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas" (he can't even save his career)

      - "Left Behind" (another remake done in vain)

      - "The Legend of Hercules" (devoid of muscle)

      - "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (go back to the sewer)

      - "Transformers: Age of Extinction" (let's hope this franchise goes extinct)

    • Trevor I think they should just hire you to pick them each year mate.

    • January 15, 2015 8:50 PM EST
    • I just hope Boyhood takes it all, what an awesome movie. :) I also like Into the Woods that could win best pic I agree.

    • January 15, 2015 3:29 PM EST
    • I was kind of shocked to see Nightcrawler on your list, did not like that film at all and it did not make the cut.

Other than that I would say you did an as usual outstanding job.

    • January 14, 2015 9:07 PM EST
    • Let me add I also like Eastwood for Director once more for ole steely eyed.

    • January 14, 2015 9:06 PM EST
    • You have to love Boyhood's chances but the best DH for me is Into the Woods, as amatter of fact I would not be a least bit surprise if that awesome movie sneaks up and grabs it.

Big contenders there for pic also has to be American Sniper, a lot of controversey but also a hell of a film.

    • January 14, 2015 9:03 PM EST
    • Hi. Any of you have aproblem with your user? Same with me. Thus my new user name and my account through Gmail. And right on time since I can post my Oscar nomination predictions. Annual tradition here.

Like previous years, I made predictions for the five nominees for each category or whatever maximum number of nominees per category. I also made predictions for Dark Horses (DH) who could upset and a For Your Consideration(FYC) pick for one who won't be a nominee but deserves it. So here goes:

      BEST PICTURE:

      • American Sniper
      • Birdman
      • Boyhood
      • Gone Girl
      • The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • The Imitation Game
      • Nightcrawler
      • Selma
      • The Theory of Everything
      • Whiplash

      DH1: Into The Woods

      DH2: Foxcatcher

DH3 & FYC: The LEGO Movie

Once again there will be an unspecified number of Best Picture nominees. It's been nine the past three Oscars but I'm keeping it at ten just to be safe.

      BEST DIRECTOR:

      • WES ANDERSON/ The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • CLINT EASTWOOD/ American Sniper
      • AVA DUVERNAY/ Selma
      • ALEJANDRO GONZALES INARRITU/ Birdman
      • RICHARD LINKLATER/ Boyhood

DH1: MORTEN TYLDUM/ The Imitation Game
      DH2: DAVID FINCHER/ Gone Girl
      FYC: DAMIEN CHAZELLE/ Whiplash

This was a hard one to predict. The first four were easy but the first five had me thinking especially on the news of Clint's Directors Guild nomination. If Ava gets nominated, she will be the first black woman to be nominated in this category.

      BEST ACTOR:

      • BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH/ The Imitation Game
      • STEVE CARELL/ Foxcatcher
      • MICHAEL KEATON/ Birdman
      • DAVID OYEWOLO/ Selma
      • EDDIE REDMAYNE/ The Theory Of Everything

      DH1: JAKE GYLLENHAAL/ Nightcrawler
DH2: RALPH FIENNES/ The Grand Budapest Hotel
      FYC: MILES TELLER/ Whiplash

That's always the problem with this category. So many great performances, only room for five nominees. If all my nomination predictions turn out right here, it would be the first time in yay so long the categories' nominees are all first-timers. Yep, including Keaton.

      BEST ACTRESS:

      • JENNIFER ANISTON/ Cake
      • FELICITY JONES/ The Theory Of Everything
      • JULIANNE MOORE/ Still Alice
      • ROSAMUND PIKE/ Gone Girl
      • REESE WITHERSPOON/ Wild

      DH1: AMY ADAMS/ Big Eyes
      DH2: MARION COTILLARD/ 2 Days, 1 Night
      FYC: PATRICIA ARQUETTE/ Boyhood

The Best Actress category is often quite predictable many years and you often know the five that will make it. Same this year. Also surprisingly women in comedy are lacking this year. They usually fare better at getting Oscar nods than the men.

      BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:

      • ROBERT DUVALL/ The Judge
      • ETHAN HAWKE/ Boyhood
      • EDWARD NORTON/ Birdman
      • MARK RUFFALO/ Foxcatcher
      • J.K. SIMMONS/ Whiplash

      DH:  JOSH BROLIN/ Inherent Vice

Another category that looks like five locks.

      BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:

      • PATRICIA ARQUETTE/ Boyhood
      • JESSICA CHASTAIN/ A Most Violent Year
      • EMMA STONE/ Birdman
      • MERYL STREEP/ Into The Wild
      • TILDA SWINTON/ Snowpiercer

DH1:  KEIRA KNIGHTLEY/ The Imitation Game
      DH2: NAOMI WATTS/ St. Vincent

Supporting Actress is often the most unpredictable. We'll see.

      BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY:

      • ALEJANDRO GONZALES INARRITU, NICOLAS GIACOBONE, ALEXANDER DINELARIS & ARMANDO BO/Birdman
      • RICHARD LINKLATER/Boyhood
      • WES ANDERSON/The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • PHIL LORD and CHRISTOPHER MILLER/The LEGO Movie
      • DAMIEN CHAZELLE/Whiplash

      DH1: DAN GILROY/Nightcrawler
      DH2: E. MAX FRYE and DAN FUTTERMAN/Foxcatcher

      BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY:

      • JASON HALL/ American Sniper
      • GILLIAN FLYNN/ Gone Girl
      • GRAHAM MOORE/ The Imitation Game
      • PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON/ Inherent Vice
      • NICK HORNBY/ Wild

DH1:  ANTHONY MCCARTEN/ The Theory Of Everything

      BEST ANIMATED FEATURE:

      • Big Hero 6
      • The BoxTrolls
      • How To Train Your Dragon 2
      • The LEGO Movie
      • Princess Kaguya

      DH: The Book Of Life

      BEST ART DIRECTION:

      • Birdman
      • The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • Into The Woods
      • Mr. Turner
      • Unbroken

      DH: Interstellar

      BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY:

      • EMMANUEL LUBEZKI/ Birdman
      • ROBERT YEOMAN/ The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • HOYTE VAN HOYTEMA/ Interstellar
      • DICK POPE/ Mr. Turner
      • ROGER DEAKINS/ Unbroken

DH:  OSCAR FAURA/ The Imitation Game

      BEST COSTUME DESIGN:

      • ANUSHIA NIERADZIK/ Belle
      • MILENA CANONERO/ The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • COLLEEN ATWOOD/ Into The Woods
      • JACQUELINE DURRAN/ Mr. Turner
      • STEVEN NOBLE/ The Theory Of Everything

      DH1: MARK BRIDGES/ Inherent Vice
DH2:  ALEXANDRA BYRNE/ Guardians Of The Galaxy

      BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE:

      • CitizenFour
      • Finding Vivienne Maier
      • Jodrowsky's Dune
      • Life Itself
      • Last Days In Vietnam

      DH: The Overnighters

      BEST FILM EDITING:

      • JOEL COX and GARY ROACH/ American Sniper
      • DOUGLAS CRISE and STEPHEN MIRRIONE/ Birdman
      • SANDRA ADAIR/ Boyhood
      • BARNEY PILLING/ The Grand Budapest Hotel
      • KIRK BAXTER/ Gone Girl

DH1: WILLIAM GOLDENBERG/ The Imitation Game
      DH2: TOM CROSS/ Whiplash

      BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM:

      • Force Majeure (Sweden)
      • Ida (Poland)
      • Leviathan (Russia)
      • The Liberator (Venezuela)
      • Wild Tales (Argentina)

      DH1: Timbuktu (Mauritania)
      DH2: Tangerines (Estonia)

If you think predicting this is hard, try predicting the winner: Leviathan, Ida or Force Majeure. Anyone's game.

      BEST ORIGINAL SCORE:

      • ANTONIO SANCHEZ/ Birdman
      • TRENT REZNOR and ATTICUS FINCH/ Gone Girl
      • HANS ZIMMER/ Interstellar

      • Godzilla
      • Guardians Of The Galaxy
      • Interstellar
      • X-Men: Days of Future Past

And there you have it. My predictions for tomorrow's Oscar nominations. No, I will not be up at 5:30am tomorrow to find out the nominees. We'll see how things go. Also expect to see my polls again on who will win what.

    • January 14, 2015 8:51 PM EST
    • Many of the Best film winners were very slow dramatic roles and Ordinary People is slow moving but a very good movie in all ways, stoty, acting you name it.

The next best film I am sure he watched after that  would be "Chariot of Fire," I think without looking it up that was 1981 best pic. How it beat out the awesome "Raiders of the Loast Ark" that eyar i don't know. Another good drama that year that was a fav was "On Golden Pond." Atlantic City that year is also a winner with Burt Lancaster in fine form.

    • January 11, 2015 9:09 PM EST
    • I have never seen "Ordinary People" but my mom says it is one of her fav movies and we should watch it one day. Based on this maybe I will. :)

    • January 6, 2015 1:22 PM EST
    • I have watched the DVD of "Ordinary People" and yes it is slow but a very good movie. I think most kids/teens wont like it.

    • January 5, 2015 8:28 PM EST
    • Heard it is a good movie but looks way too slow for me, watching all the best film winners you will have to plogh through some pretty boring stuff. :P

    • January 4, 2015 11:07 PM EST
    • Saw “Ordinary People” tonight, such a good movie but it has left me feeling as depressed as the son. I would bet not a person here has seen this gem from 1980, I bet you would all be bored stiff. No explosions or spaceships zooming through space, just a good drama with the always amazing Mary Tyler Moore. A young Timothy Hutton was also superb as was Donald Sutherland. So surreal watching that affluent family falls to pieces. I recommend it try to watch some good cinema and give stuff like Robocop a break, watch a movie that make you all think sometimes. Is that too much?

This won 4 Academy Awards including best Film. I saw it because I am on a quest to watch every best picture winner.

    • January 4, 2015 10:59 PM EST
    • The movie is pure rubbish.

    • January 2, 2015 8:51 PM EST
    • I did not like it, I think it also bombed because it was sure gone fast.

    • December 19, 2014 10:18 AM EST
    • Maze Runner was ok, sure there are things you can as they say poke holes in but you can do that with justa bout any movie.

    • December 18, 2014 1:34 PM EST
    • I thought it was cool. :)

    • December 18, 2014 12:53 AM EST
    • Cliché laden, illogical, nonsensical tripe, oh it could have been very good but instead it is a forgettable mess. Squarely aimed at the game playing teens who relish in simply wandering around a make believe scenario hacking, slashing and shooting.

How can this be picked to pieces?

The maze changes daily yet they can make a detailed model of it, by the time they have mapped a day the next day would that not be useless?

Boys that age no supervision and they get on perfect? Ever heard of Lord of the Flies?

Many of them confined here for three years and yet have nice low haircuts? I guess a nice barber must be on site for nice trims and the like.

Teen boys no girls for three years and one show up and they show indifference, yea right. Lol

The worst part is the end is a setup for more of this drivel.

      One Star out of 5.

    • November 22, 2014 10:39 PM EST
    • It is an awesome movie I have the DVD and watch it som many times. :)

    • November 17, 2014 11:53 PM EST
    • I have seen this movie also and I like it, pretty good film.
