I do see your side that it was heartbreaking. In fact 20 years ago when I was eight, Germany was defending cup champions. I saw the quarterfinals with my mother at the German American Society in Omaha. I was expecting Germany to win. Everyone was. But losing 2-1 to Bulgaria and out of the running? I was heartbroken and I cried too. I think that was the only time I cried over a lost soccer game. However I was conforted by two older people at the club. Yes, I was the little heartbreaker there. :-D

I hope this Twitter picture makes you feel better. In fact you should remember at the end of the game, the  first people to console the Brazilian team were the Germans. You have to admire them for being good sportsmen. Also I hope Brazil wins tonight. I want to see them win for pride.

Thanks but more shame yesterday, I thought maybe 3rd plce but now a 3-0 loss to Netherlands. :( last two biggest games 10-1 score.

Congratulations to Germany for an awesome World Cup......and to Argentina and Netherlands it was a great series, even though Costa Rica lost out but I think they did well. :)

I agree. Costa Rica was expected to get swallowed up in the 'Group of Death.' Instead they won it. Now it's Italy and England who have to wonder what went wrong.

Congratulations to Costa Rica. They did their best ever.

I know. It's unfortunate. Brazil can be #1 again but they have to redo their system. Sure Germany won the Cup but their win came of a revamping of the system after the embarassment of Euro 2000.

This is going to be something. England is definitely going to have to improve its football system. Their players know how to play for clubs but they have trouble playing as a team internationally. And don't get me started on penalty kicks. They really need to improve themselves.

Actually a friend of mine told me England had mostly young inexperienced players. The World Cup is a very good learning experience for them, yes, but the coaches should remember the focus shouldn't be on World Cup 2018 right now. It's World Cup 2014.

I don't know. The way I look at it is you can mourn a team's departure for only a short time. Soon they will have to start again and prepare the next four years.[blockquote]OG John said:
