Lori Martyn says her son Christian, 17, was ready for the stage at an early age.
In Grade 2, Christian Martyn took part in a school performance of Hansel and Gretel at Fern Hill School, and was bitten by the acting bug.
The experience sparked his interest in acting and Martyn took acting lessens as a child. He auditioned for an acting competition in Los Angeles when he was nine-years-old, winning in several categories including: best TV commercial and child actor of the year (in his age group).

While in Los Angeles, Martyn auditioned for the movie Snowmen, 2010, where he landed the role of Lucas Lamb. He later appeared in the movie Home Alone: The Holiday Heist, 2012, and Breakout, 2013, a drama film shot in Sault Ste. Marie.
Martyn is currently appearing in the new CBC/Netflix series Anne, Based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic novel Anne of Green Gables. The series premiered on CBC on March 19. Anne comes out on Netflix on May 12.
In the series, Martyn plays Billy Andrews, a bully. “I’ve never been a bad guy or mean person,” says Martyn, who is in Grade 11 at Iroquois Ridge High School.
When Martyn auditioned for the role, he didn’t expect to get the part. “I was a little bit shocked … and happy,” he said.

The series, which was shot in Ontario, north of Toronto and in the Hamilton area, wrapped up filming for the first season. The average day started at 5:15 a.m., travelling to the set by 6:30 a.m. and filming until sundown.
Although he was working 11-and-a-half hours, Martyn says the experience was a blast. “It was really, really fun.”
As for his future, Martyn plans to keep on acting after high school. In January, he plans to go back to Los Angeles to audition for parts. “I want to continue acting,” he says.
