Ty Keegan Simpkins was born in New York City, New York, on August 6, 2001, and was acting from the day he was born, at three weeks old he made his first TV appearance on the soap One Live to Live (2001-2002) and followed this up with a role on the "The Guiding Light."

Other TV roles included guest spots on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (2005), "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2008) and "Private Practice" also in 2008. he also was the voice of The Little Drummer boy on "The Family Guy" episode  How the Griffin Stole Christmas (2016)

Simpkins has worked with some of the industry’s finest actors and Directors including three films with actress Kate Winslet and with director Steven Spielberg in "War of the Worlds" (2005). He then went on to appear in a string of features such as "Little Children," "Pride and Glory," "Gardens of the Night," and "Little Children" marked his first appearance with Winslet. Ty then went on to Revolutionary Road once more with Winslet and followed this with "Family of Four."

Simpkins then appeared in the horror film "Insidious" playing Dalton lambert then later he returned in the 2013 sequel Insidious: Chapter 2. Other film roles included "The Next Three Days," "Arcadia," "Extraction" and the 2013 hit Iron Man 3 as Harley Keener. Along with the Insidious sequel, he also appeared in Jurassic World (2015), "Meadowland" (2015)  and as Bobby in "The Nice Guys" (2016).

Ty plays the cello after choosing it over the trombone and the trumpet, Simpkins said he chose the cello because you get to sit down and he loves Jaws and the haunting cello sound from the score. He told People magazine his favorite school subject is Recess and lunch and loves attending a normal elementary school when not working on a film. On the Lunch and recess as favorites, he added he also likes social studies.
