Iron Man Soars

Robert Downey Jr is back and his new flick Iron Man soars, always an outstanding actor Downey has been sidetracked by the demons of booze and drugs that landed him in several prison stays. His troubles mirrored that of the character he portrayed in his 80’s flick LESS THAN ZERO but Downey seems to be sober and back in form as Iron Man the first true adult comic book adaptation.

Iron Man, is a superhero. his alter ego is billionaire industrialist, inventor and playboy Tony Stark, as played magnificently by Robert Downey Jr. Think of him as a less brooding and tortured Bruce Wayne.
After a trip to Afghanistan to sell some of his company’s weapons, Stark is kidnapped by terrorists and asked to build a missile. Meanwhile he is concerned about the magnet in his chest that keeps shrapnel out of his heart and decides to take life a bit more seriously so he builds a giant suit of iron that tears through terrorists like paper dolls.

On his return to the USA he discontinues his company’s weapons division and begins designing a sleeker model of the suit to settle the score and take the worst weapons out of the people’s hands. This model that can fly, shoot flames, bullets and pure energy is what we come to know as Iron Man. But, of course, those wrong hands might be closer to Stark than he realizes, even as his new electric heart makes him more empathetic to those around him.

The film soars and entertains and is highly recommended.
